RevOZ Speaker Series Recap: Dan Kowalski in Sacramento

Friday, April 26th, a little over a week after the second round of Opportunity Zone proposed regulations were released, RevOZ Capital was again on the forefront of understanding the proposed law.

RevOZ Capital worked with Cal OZ, the leading non-profit organization for California's Opportunity Zone stakeholders, to host two events featuring Daniel Kowalski, the Counselor to the Secretary of the Treasury and driver of the recently released regulations.  He spoke and gave insights on how the new regulations will impact the Opportunity Zone industry.

The event in Sacramento was held in a packed conference room of 100 attendees over lunch at The Sawyer Hotel.  The newly opened hotel is a critical piece of Sacramento's downtown redevelopment called DOCO, which is anchored by the state-of-the-art Golden 1 Center, host of Sacramento Kings games and many other arts and entertainment events.  Our own Founder & Managing Partner, Alex Bhathal, was involved in the project's development and highlighted its success in transforming the region as an inspiration for getting involved in Opportunity Zone investing.  "I saw the positive effects of uniting good policy and private capital.  The Opportunity Zone program has the power to super charge these types of changes here in Sacramento and in other markets as well," he stated in his remarks to the crowd that including leading policy makers, community groups, and regional developers.

Kunal Merchant, founder of Cal OZ, lead a panel of distinguished guests that included Sacramento City Councilman Allen Warren and Railyards developer Denton Kelly.

Finally, Mr. Kowalski, the headliner and architect of the program's regulatory implementation, led the audience through a detailed understanding of the goals of the program and how the new regulations would impact communities, investors, and industry participants.
